I see plenty of college students, including those who are taking a semester or two off as they figure out what to do next. I have two main areas of specialization: ADHD and sex therapy. I have written four books on ADHD and am a certified sex therapist. I tend to keep things practical and focus on what is going on in my clients' daily lives and how to help them get to where they want to be (which may begin with figuring out where that is anyway).

Struggling from anxiety and/or depression? Having a hard time managing relationships? Can't get past things that have happened in your life? Want to work on problems with family members, partner or children? I know how to help! My approach to therapy begins with establishing the therapeutic relationship because I strongly believe it is the foundation to making change in your life. From there, I will integrate person-centered, trauma-informed, and skills-based approaches to help you achieve your goals. I am also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to help you heal from difficult experiences in order to reduce symptoms, triggers, and stressors. I have experience working with adults, children, couples, and families and bring a eclectic presence to the therapy room to meet the needs of all my clients.

I'm Carly Stanton, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) offering virtual therapy for adults in Florida and Pennsylvania who've spent too long trying to fit into spaces that were never built for them. I work with outsiders, misfits, and people rebuilding — LGBTQ+ folks navigating identity and belonging, Jewish adults sorting through what their heritage actually means to them, highly sensitive people who are done apologizing for how they're wired, and anyone who's spent years being everything for everyone else and lost themselves in the process. My approach is relational, insight-oriented, and grounded in ACT and attachment-based work. I'm not here to hand you coping tips. I'm here to help you figure out who you actually are underneath all the performing. Virtual only. Free 15-minute consultation.

I work primarily with college students and young adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, and general life stressors. I have many years of experiencing working at different universities in the Pittsburgh area, which is helpful to my work with students as I am particularly knowledgeable about resources, common stressors students at each school experience, and how best to navigate university systems when you are struggling emotionally. I am experienced in supporting international, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ students. Providing a safe and validating space for others is a value of mine. This has lead me to pursuing a Doctorate in Psychology and thus far 8 years of experience. Throughout my training and career, I've always gravitated towards the college/graduate school population. I've especially appreciated working with students on relationships, identity, and self-love. Being a South-Asian, I've also enjoyed exploring cultural/ethnic/racial identity with clients. In a therapy session my approach is inviting, warm, curious, and a grounding presence. I strongly believe clients are experts on themselves; hence my approach to therapy is empowering and encouraging clients to lean into experiences to meet their goals. I like to use the metaphor that my clients are in the driver's seat and I'm there to support them as they explore where they want to go. Along with a multicultural lens, some therapeutic orientations I often pull from are CBT, ACT, and IFS. Gift-giving is important in many cultures and hence the gift I want to give clients is hope, validation, and safety. I also strive to plant the seeds of empowerment and self-love in clients and continue to nurture that together throughout our sessions. I encourage clients to try out various exercises/skills in between sessions to continue to meet their goals. Overall I hope a client leaves our sessions feeling supported, heard, and respected.
